According to the National Weather Service, "Approximately seventy-five percent of all presidential disaster declarations are associated with flooding". NOAA Lists the most common flood hazards in the United States as:
- Flash Flooding
- River Flooding
- Storm surge and coastal inundation
- Burn scars/Debris flows
- Ice/ Debris jams
- Snowmelt
- Drywash
- Dam Breaks/Levee Failure
Unfortunately, here in the pacific northwest all of the above are real possibilities.
There are many information applications that can downloaded to your phone or computer so that you are informed prior to a storm happening.
While, we here at SERVPRO have our preferred apps, we recommend that you shop around your app store to find the one you like.
These apps will notify you with push notifications of flash floods, lightning, heavy rains, and thunderstorms.
These apps are great for traveling as well! Since they are not local apps you are able to plan trips away from home with ease!
